Cameron Gifford

Cameron Gifford joined the National Australia Day Council Board in May 2026.

Cameron is currently the Deputy Secretary Governance and Corporate Group at the Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet (PM&C), where he commenced in May 2026. Before joining PM&C, Cameron was the Deputy Secretary of the Justice and Communities Group in the Attorney-General’s Department, where he has held a range of senior leadership roles since 2003.

Cameron has extensive experience at the senior executive level in the Australian Public Service spanning across several corporate, policy and legal areas. He has led major organisational and system reforms, contributing to strengthened national security and justice frameworks and organisational reform. Cameron is an experienced Chief Operating Officer, leading the delivery of an organisation’s corporate and operational functions while also supporting it through periods of significant change. 

Cameron was born in Tasmania. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Arts and Law from the University of Tasmania, Masters in Law from the Australian National University, and Executive Masters of Public Administration from the Australia and New Zealand School of Government.
