After the success of this year's Australia Day celebration, Litchfield Council is looking to return to the Freds Pass Market Shed for the 2024 event. The festivities received praise from the community, drawing a remarkable turnout of 300 attendees. The event remains a free family affair and, in keeping with tradition, will commence with an all-ages fun run. A welcome to country, conducted by members of the Larrakia Nation, will precede the Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony, hosted by Litchfield Mayor Doug Barden. The Local Humpty Doo Scouts will oversee the flag-raising ceremony and the national anthem will be performed by one of Litchfield's local primary school choirs. Our dedicated team of volunteers will provide a complimentary breakfast for all attendees. Due to the positive feedback from this year's celebrations, we aim to incorporate arts and crafts activities, market stalls, and traditional grass weaving into the day's events.
