2010 VIC Young Australian of the Year Finalist Andrew Asten has been working to improve and empower leadership in both the public and private sectors for over fifteen years. His experience covers a wide range of topics including infrastructure, telecommunications, energy, foreign affairs, defence, service delivery and public sector reform. In 2005, Andrew worked intensively with the United Nations Youth Organisation to bring young Australians together to deepen their understanding of the global challenges facing us. Then in 2007, he began working with the Oaktree Foundation, Australia’s first entirely youth and volunteer run aid and development organisation. He coordinated the Face up to Poverty campaign and also founded Oaktree’s Schools 4 Schools program to provide life-changing educational opportunities to students across the developing world. Andrew currently contributes to the community across a range of organisations. At The Boston Consulting Group he provides guidance and insight into the infrastructure and transport sector. Andrew has likewise been called on to serve as a board member for both Ridley College and the Doncaster-based community care organisation Doncare.
