Australia Day Breakfast by the Leven

What are you doing this Australia Day?  The Central Coast Council is celebrating what is great about Australia, by hosting Breakfast by the Leven, in Anzac Park.  Australia Day is a day for all Australians to unite through celebration.  Breakfast by the Leven is an event that brings together our community in an informal setting, where families can relax and enjoy themselves.

Whilst we understand that some of us like to do our own thing, we’d love to see you and your family, to spend the morning with our community on the banks of the Leven River.  Along with a free breakfast, the entertainment program will incorporate live performances and children’s activities.  This year there are two new events, namely, Hots Shots Tennis (a Tennis Australia program for children 12 and under) hosted by the Ulverstone Tennis Club, and Kanga Cricket (a Cricket Australia program for juniors) supported by the State Government and hosted by the Ulverstone Cricket Club.  Equipment for the Kanga Cricket and Hot Shots Tennis is provided for all of the enthusiastic participants that show up on the day!

Central Coast is pleased to announce that Bianca Welsh, 2016 Tasmanian Young Australian of the Year finalist, will be attending as the Australia Day Ambassador.  Bianca is a co-owner of three award-winning businesses in Launceston – Stillwater Providore, Stillwater Restaurant and the Black Cow Bistro.  Alongside her business interests, Bianca has also undertaken a Psychology Degree with UTas on a part-time basis.  Bianca is heavily involved within her community and has a keen interest in youth and mental health issues, as well as promoting Tasmanian produce, which she utilises within all of her establishments.

So come and join us from 8.45am on 26 January 2017 in ANZAC Park.  As a part of the festivities, there will be a formal citizenship ceremony and Australia Day Award presentations, which will take place at 9.30am.  This ceremony welcomes new Australians and recognises those that have made an outstanding contribution to our community
