Tom Dunbabin

Tom is a leader in the farming community. As owner and manager of the family property Bangor near Dunalley and The Quoin at Ross, he implemented progressive livestock grazing, farming and forestry principles whilst managing the properties’ extensive natural values for conservation. He was awarded a National Landcare award for Nature Conservation in 1996 and the McKell Medal for excellence in Natural Resource Management in 2004.

Since 2013 when management of Bangor passed to Tom’s son and daughter in law he has maintained his involvement in natural resource management as an active member of the Tasman Landcare Group implementing a range of environmental programs in south-east Tasmania.

He is currently researching and writing some of Tasmania’s early history, unearthing stories of our people, the community in which they live, and their connection to place.
