Tour of Honour
For the first time ever, the 2009 Australians of the Year for all four categories came together for a Tour of Honour, to spread their individual messages and encourage all Australians to consider how they can help make this Country a better place.

Each year our nation celebrates the achievement and contribution of eminent Australians through the Australian of the Year Awards by profiling leading citizens who are role models for us all. They inspire us through their achievements and challenge us to make our own contribution to creating a better Australia.
The Tour of Honour took place in South Australia over 4 days, with the participants reaching more than 4000 South Australians. This vision is from the final event of the tour, at Golden Grove High School, where 750 students in years 8, 9 and 10 took part in a special assembly and then had the opportunity to meet with these oustanding Australians.
The Australian of the Year Awards is a program run by the Australia Day Council.
