Maylands Peninsula Primary School wins the road safety poster competition and a visit by the RAC Rescue Helicopter thanks to Gerard Gabrielle's winning design!
To promote road safety awareness and behaviour in the school community, the RAC and ADCWA in partnership with the Fire and Emergency Services of Western Australia invited Aussie of the Month schools to enter a road safety poster competition.
The competition was open to all Year 4 students in schools within a 200 kilometre radius of Perth who had participated in the Aussie of the Month program within the past year.
The winning poster earned the right to receive a visit from the RAC Rescue Helicopter for their class. Students were given a 'show and tell' of the helicopter and they were also able to inspect it up close and talk with the crew.
The competition was an effective way to engage and educate students about the importance of road safety and supports the Year 4 curriculum by giving students a platform to learn about:
- bike safety
- passenger safety
- pedestrian safety
Congratulations Gerard - Great work!
