Awards

The Australia Day Council of South Australia runs several Awards Programs to recognise and reward outstanding Australians

AoTYA

The Australian of the Year Awards are run nationally, with State recipients in each of the four categories travelling to Canberra for the announcement of the national recipients on Australia Day Eve.
The four categories are:
- Australian of the Year
- Young Australian of the Year
- Senior Australian of the Year
- Australia's Local Hero

The Citizen of the Year Awards are run throughout South Australia, with local Councils typically announcing recipients in the following categories:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Community Event of the Year
Many Councils also announce recipents in alternative categories.
The Australia Day Council of SA then announces the South Australian recipients in each of the three categories listed above on Australia Day Eve.

The Premier's Award for Outstanding Community Achievement in South Australia

The Minister for Education's Award for Excellence in Languages and Cultures

The Women Hold Up Half The Sky Award
