Business Lunches

The Australia Day Lunch program, sponsored by Australia Post, has become a national tradition. These prestigious occasions allow corporate Australia to support national pride and spirit in the lead up to 26 January.

The annual Australia Day Lunches - held in the week before Australia Day - highlight the commitment of Australian business to our great country and its people.

As well as a tangible way for corporate Australia to show their Australian spirit, the Australia Day Lunches establish ongoing connections between businesses, government and community organisations.

Australia Post has generously sponsored the Australia Day Lunch Program for many years.

The Lunches coincide with the yearly launch of Australia Post's 'Australian Legends'. The Australian Legends honour individuals who have made a lifetime contribution to the development of our national identity and character. The launch includes a stamp issue, first day cover, maxi cards and a commemorative book.

When the inaugural Australian Legend was presented to Sir Donald Bradman in 1997, it was the first time an Australian stamp honoured a living person, other than a ruling monarch or member of the royal family.

Past Australian Legends have included:

  • Fashion Designers (2005)
  • Entertainer Barry Humphries (2006)
  • Racing greats (2007)
  • Philanthropists (2008)
  • Legends of the screen (2009)
