In its 4th year, The Australian Unity Great Australia Day Swim is hosted by the Brighton Rotary – held on Saturday January 26 2013 at the Middle Brighton pier, Melbourne Victoria. • Host: Trent Croad (ex AFL player and Bayside resident) • Michael Klim and his Olympic swim team host the MILK celebrity relay • Local celebrities and the Brighton Icebergers particpate in the MILK celebrity relay • Over 2000 locals swim on the day, with another 1000 joining to enjoy the entertainment, bbq and family. • Events – 5k swim, 1400m swim, 650m swim, Junior Dash and MILK celebrity relay. Over 2,000 entrants receive a complimentary gear bag, event T shirt, sports cap, swim cap, Powerade drink, fruit and ice cream– raising funds for disadvantaged children in the state. All proceeds will go to Charities largely for Children from disadvantaged homes and those in crisis, such as Les Twentyman’s 20th Man. The major charity is a Bayside charity, BayCISS which support the education expenses of children whose families cannot afford those basic expenses. Start time 7:45am - End time 2:00pm
