Event Details
The Aussie spirit was evident at the 2013 Australia Day Festival. Despite the rain, the Parklands, South Bank was a hive of activity as the community came together to celebrate our national day.
Audiences were entertained by some of Queensland’s most talented performers. From illusionists, dancers and acrobats, The Courier-Mail Piazza was alive with colour, sound and movement.
A range of Australian inspired workshops were enjoyed by many.
At midday, community groups came together at the special Celebration of Faiths event to acknowledge and reflect on our diverse culture.
The celebrations continued into the evening with a live performance by chart toppers and critically acclaimed group, Evermore. The live music didn’t stop there, with Rockhampton’s favourite sons Busby Marou and local indie group, Art of Sleeping, rocking out in The Courier-Mail Piazza.
The celebrations were topped off by a spectacular fireworks display over the Brisbane River.
Australia Day activities in Queensland are proudly supported by the Queensland Government in partnership with the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council.
