The 2010 Australia Day Festival was an outstanding success with up to 60,000 Queenslanders flocking to the Parklands at South Bank to join in the celebrations.

The Suncorp Piazza came alive with colour and excitement as some of Queensland’s most talented performers and community groups took to the stage.

Proudly sponsored by the Sunday Mail, the Big Backyard was jam packed with exciting, hands-on activities to get the kids involved.

The Little Stanley Street Precinct came alive with fun filled activities for young and old.  Triple M’s The Cage created some major excitement during the Prawn Star Competition, with the fastest prawn peeler winning $5,000!

From 4.30pm, local bands Omni Anti, Chocolate Strings, Hungry Kids of Hungary and The John Steel Singers entertained the crowd at the Australia Day Festival AusSounds concert.

The fireworks once again lit up the Brisbane night in a stirring display of light, colour and sound.

The Australia Day Festival in Queensland is proudly supported by the Queensland Government and assisted by the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council.
