The 2010 Australia Day Flag Raising Ceremony, held at the Cultural Forecourt at The Parklands, South Bank, was a fantastic display of the precision and professionalism of the Australian Defence Force.

The ceremony, hosted by Air Commodore Chris Sawade CSC of the Royal Australian Air Force, was attended by the Governor of Queensland, the Premier of Queensland and Councillor Margaret de Wit, representing the Lord Mayor of Brisbane. The official guests each received a salute on their arrival and the Governor inspected the 100-man Royal Guard.

At midday, the Australian, Queensland, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags were raised simultaneously. A spectacular F-111 flyover and an impressive 21 gun salute took place as the flags reached the top of the flagpole.

The ceremony concluded with the Australian National Anthem and the Australian Citizenship Affirmation, a fitting end to the wonderful display from the Australian Defence Force.
