Jim Griffin is the Chief Executive Officer of Melbourne based automotive components manufacturing firm Diver Consolidated Industries, (DCI) and the National President of the Federation of Automotive Products Manufacturers. Having commenced his working life as a Fitting & Turning apprentice with GM-Holden in 1980, Jim has forged a 33-year career in the automotive industry on both the vehicle producer and supplier sides of the business in both Victoria and South Australia.
Starting with trade training, a technical cadetship and work as a production technician, his roles since have included responsibility for Production, Procurement, Sales, Engineering and General Management enabling him to amass a broad and extensive knowledge of the industry, both domestically and globally.
Jim is also extremely active in industry representation and policy development, championing the plight of not just the local automotive industry, but manufacturing in Australia in general. Since mid 2011 he has been the National President of the Federation of Automotive Products Manufacturers (FAPM), having served as Southern Region President for more than six years prior. Jim has been a member of the FAPM’s Federal Executive since 2003.
He is a current member of the Victorian Governments’ Manufacturing Council and served on the Federal Governments’ Automotive Industry Innovation Council until its activities concluded at the end of 2012. Jim has represented the interests of Australian manufacturing on numerous international trade missions to countries such as China, Thailand, South Korea, India and the U.S.A.
Outside of work Jim has spent many years involved in junior football having run a suburban Auskick Centre for five years before moving into team management for the Research Junior Football Club and the Lower Plenty Football Club.
