Jeremy Donovan

Jeremy ‘Yongurra’ Donovan is a descendent of the Kuku-Yalanji and Gumbaynngirr tribes of Far North Queensland and the mid north coast of NSW.

Jeremy holds many talents. An internationally renowned didgeridoo player, a healer, a dad and \ spokesperson for the GenerationOne campaign.

In every role he takes with him one crucial message “Learn your culture, be proud of where you come from, and never forget the struggle the generations before you have face. Don’t blame others for your problems. You control your own destiny.”

Having been through his own struggles as a teenager, he knows the value of learning culture and knowledge from his elders and now shares that with his own children and young people.

Jeremy is prepared to share the sacredness of his culture to break down the walls of ignorance, he makes it his job to educate people from all corners of the world about the beauty that exists within the sacred and traditional Aboriginal culture.

Jeremy owns his own company, Walking with Wisdom and he uses many methods of sharing Aboriginal culture. Through healing, tours and inspirational speaking he has touched the lives of many people across the world.

At GenerationOne Jeremy uses his traditional knowledge to help the disparity between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians in one generation – this generation.

“The message is clear, if we are going to end the disparity we need to work together,” he says.
